The Inca Dove is using the small feeder outside our window again.
The larger Doves use several tray feeders, but they were hanging on to this
small feeder, flapping and beating off the smaller sparrows.
Last week, I attached vertical strips to the smaller feeder, making it harder
for the big Doves to land on it.
The smaller birds figured it out within a couple of days, and now they give it
a workout. They stand in a space between vertical strips, and block the way of
the bigger Doves.
I was surprised when the smaller Inca Dove also figured out how to use it. The
Inca fits right in there, along with the Sparrows.
In the past, the Incas stayed on the ground.
I have not seen them use a hanging feeder before last week.
