Easy mistake! They are similar looking birds! $10 says you just mixed them up
while you were typing the email.
Ask Brad, I knew exactly what I was looking at when we were watching shorebirds
at McAlister (and I put them in eBird correctly) but then, out loud, I would
say a similar, but wrong, name without realizing it.

A huge, absurd but humbling gaffe on my part: the Indigo Buntings were
actually Blue Grosbeaks. I do not know what I was thinking. Doh!

I was really looking for wildflowers, but it turned into a great birding
adventure thanks to the buntings. There is, however, a HUGE patch of Wild
Licorice (Glycyrrhiza lepidota) and a patch of what I think is Western
Horsenettle (Solanum dimidiatum) down in that area. A few Fulvia
Checkerspots (writing this in plural seems like a big deal; I've only ever
seen one in my life. Anthony has surely seen dozens.) were enjoying the
wildflowers.
