A Naturalist at one of the Missouri state parks told me once that if the vine
has hairy looking roots coming from it, it's poison ivy. I can't swear that
that is true of vines in parts of the country other than Missouri, but the
source seems pretty reliable, so I've accepted it as truth and act accordingly.
