Wow, that IS scary. In our group we had a couple of guys coming in
pretty fast and backwards on the last tower, but the guide caught them
both, which amazed me. And I sucked at braking on the second zip, so
I braced for impact (feet first), but again the guide caught me. I
thought that keeping straight (feet first) was a little harder than I
expected.

I went into the zipline event thinking that it would be a fairly
passive experience: you know, enjoy the ride and look at the pretty
scenery flying by and let the zipline personnel worry about safety.
More like an amusement park experience. I was surprised to find how
much I had to pay attention to what I was doing during the zip and how
it did require some skill (or at least trying to really remember the
instructions). For me, that made the experience more fun, but
obviously they're not kidding about all the bad things they list in
the waiver.

And like Barry said, it did seem weird that only one of the poles was
padded.
