I'm still very new at using the Touch, but from my first glance at BARD
Mobile, it doesn't appear to download/unzip BRF books.
And if you download one from the BARD website, apparently Android doesn't
natively unzip it.
I'm sure there are workarounds like putting unzipped braille files in
Dropbox and transferring them that way, or downloading an unzip app and
unzipping the files.
I hope I'm wrong about some of this. The iPhone app can download Braille
books; am I missing this in the BARD Android app?
It would be nice if the Touch did these things; the Apex does.
Goodness, I think even the VR Stream can read Braille from text.
It's nice to download Braille and read it on the go, and the Touch is a
Braille device.
Don't get me wrong; I like the Touch a lot. And I may be speaking from
ignorance here.
But it doesn't appear to have this capability.

No this is one of the prices of migrating to a more modern platform. This
does not mean that NLS will not issue authorization keys in the future which
would allow us to use Victor Reader to read NLS books. Incidentally I
discovered that one of the side effects of not having a BARD authorization
key on my Touch was that I could no longer read books that I had downloaded
from openlibrary.org, a book download library that encrypts their books
using the NLS BARD key to ensure that they are only being accessed by an
individual with a qualified print disability in conformance with copyright
law. I used to read these books in Braille on my Apex.

Morning all,
That is indeed what I have discovered. I have the BARD App. Works
fine. I am slightly disappointed that I cannot use the books I have
already downloaded from BARD. It looks like I'll have to go onto BARD
and put the books in my wish list. Is there any way to get around this,
Sam?

You can just download the BARD Mobile app from the Google Play store.
You do not need to authorize the Touch. The BARD Mobile app does this
when you sign in. The Touch would only need to be authorized for BARD
if you wanted to play NLS books in Victor Reader but since you can
download and run the BARD Mobile Android app, there is no need for this.

Hi all,
Sorry, but The Touch is not listed on BARD. Not sure what the problem
is, but Il ne marche pas.
