Of equal importance are tools which validators and submitters can use and a structure which fosters good validator and submitter co-operation.

I know the other evening was dedicated to exploring more blue sky priorities. These include linking to social networks. I do not belong to social networks and do not list lots of info about myself on the net. As a female and one who has lived a number of years I consider such activity risky.

If bookshare wants to get involved in interesting search tools, toolbars and links to social sites I hope they put such work in priority below the work necessary to produce good tools for submitters and validators.

Such tools might include
1. a tool to give a actual numeric rank to a book at time of upload by submitter instead of relying on the submitter's choice of "excellent" or "good"

2. giving everybody a designation so that bookshare volunteer becomes bsv1 through bsv9 and so on

3. requiring a contact when somebody submits so I can get in touch somehow as a validator

4. If the submitter does not want to use his or her regular email perhaps he or she can have a web account like people do for dating sites. A google mail or hotmail or something might work. That way their privacy will be protected and I can validate their submits better.

After we have good tools to improve the quality of books in the general collection we can go on to fancy searches and toolbars.
