  Hi Folks,

So I've been following the threads and there have been a lot of good points
made. I'm going to speak to a couple of things and try to bring you up to speed
on what's going on from our end.

  1. First of all, the posting that started this whole rant fest was not even
related to page breaks and book acceptances. It was related to a
misunderstanding about the history of several books and their validation. That
is being worked through.

  2. Don't worry about the page breaks of the files you're validating. Txt
files are ok. RTF files are ok. Folder files are ok (well, ok, they don't exist
but if they did. . .). If there is a problem with page breaks in the files you
validate and approve, there is an automatically generated warning for us here
at admin and we will contact you accordingly.

  3. I'm going to work with engineers to compile information about page breaks
and how to preserve them using different OCR programs. I use Abby FineReader
7.0 in house, and keeping page breaks is as simple as checking a box. If you
would like to help me with this project, I would truly appreciate it.

  4. For some of your older archived libraries, do not hesitate to submit them
if you're worried about this issue. If you want to submit a test file, let me
know and we'll figure out some way to make your content live.

  5. There's been a discussion of just having books identified as not having
page breaks in the comments section of a book when you download it. I'm going
to discuss this with my operations team on Monday.

  6. Thanks for moderating your tone on this discussion, at least somewhat. I'd
like to remind all people on this listserve to maintain a degree of decorum and
politeness. I'm not going to single anyone out here, but please, exercise your
good judgement when crafting your responses.

  Thanks,
  Marissa
