Dear Cindy,
When you are ready to subscribe to Bookshare all of us will get in line to give
you the credits for your membership since we know you have donated yours to
anyone who has asked for help.
Where in California do you live? There are centers for the blind where you can
go and look at CCTVs to get an idea of how they may help you. Some of our
volunteers live in California and might have ideas. And, you may well qualify
for Talking Book services from the National Library Services. If you enjoy
reading large print books I have several I’d be glad to send you that you could
keep or pass on. I could send you a list. Just tonight I came across The large
print edition of The Right Jack, a mystery by Margaret Maron which Sandi
scanned and Elizabeth proofread for Bookshare.
Please keep us posted because with Bookshare and other resources, like us,
nothing will stop you from reading!

Bob Snyder sent me the name and phone number of a person to contact at the
Coast Technology Institute: Paul Mortola to see if I'd qualify for borrowing
one of the cctvs (I think that's what they're called so I could try it and
see if it would work for me before I buy one; I called him and left my
telephone number, saying I have Voice Mail and he can leave a message, and I
carefully gave him my email address so he can email me and and send me an
application to see if I qualify to borrow for a while one of the cctvs; He
hasn't responded to either my email or my phone message; Bob, you said if I
needed more help to contact you so I am.
