Dear Peter,

You were my first contact in the Book-share office. To my enthusiastic anxious and technically informed queries as to how and if I had become a member, you were professional, helpful, nonjudgmental and an all around gent. You made my experience with Book-share a good one from the start.

You have contributed more than we newer members can fathom. I admire you for leaving the organization without withdrawing your endorsement of its accomplishments and goals. Very classy.

You are talented and have so much to offer. I hope you find a niche where you enjoy using your skills and where you feel appreciated. I hope you will update us occasionally as many of us care about how you fare.

With best wishes for your future happiness and confidence you'll find, "The Next Big Thing."

Always With Love,

Lissi.

Peter,

I can't believe it. Bookshare is already 3 employees
short and the lack is causing problems with books
getting approved and into the collection, and there
are so many technical things that need to be worked on
and improved.

We here certainly will miss your sense of humor. I
hope you will find a way to come to CSUN, and I also
wish you good luck in finding another position
quickly.

Cindy

Hey all,
I thought I'd stick in my two cents before the
spin machine takes over. After a 15 year
association with Benetech and Arkenstone before it,
I have resigned my position as Technical Projects
Associate with the Benetech Initiative. The lack of
sponsorship to go to CSUN was just one symptom in an
increasingly hostile and counter-productive
relationship I've had with the current senior
management of Bookshare. While the immediate
reaction from management was to turn off all access
to my account, even my access to read books, I still
believe it to be a fundamentally terrific service
and one worth supporting. I believe it is current
management's misunderstanding of me as a person
which, undoubtedly, led to the inference that I
would use my knowledge of the web site's underlying
code to do damage to its content or its user
records. As I've indicated, I have total support
for Bookshare and the rest of Jim Fruchterman's
visions. I hope that he will one day be able to
find senior management worthy of them.
This does not mean you won't be seeing me at
conferences such as CSUN, NFB, etc. My associations
in the world of Accessible Technology are
long-standing and still of great interest to me.
Thanks.

Peter Scialli
