I'm sure that most people will say, "It depends on what you're using it for." I wanted a portable server-ish delopment environment. I have an HP dv9000 with an AMD-64 processor, 2GB RAM, and two 100 GB hard drives in it. I have Fedora Core 4 x86-64 and Oracle 9i (64-bit) with VMWare running XP or Solaris and 10gR2 on those. It's been a fantastic box but certainly not a laptop per se as it has a bit of weight and is too hot for a lap. It has a 17" screen but, more importantly, a bigger keyboard than a typical laptop.
I am using my HP Laptop zv5340US about 2 yrs old ( AMD 64 3400+ with 100 gb HDD and 1.2 Gigs RAM ). Fantastic 15.4 inch screen. I just luv it.
I have WIndows Vista RC-1 with Oracle 10G (10.2.0.2), TOAD 8.6.0.38, AllFusion DM 7.1, PowerDVD. The smaller partition has Ubuntu UNIX on VMWare :-)
This is my great workhorse..but a little loud on the fan side though
Thanks and have a good day.

Choices of laptops out there are mind boggling!
What laptops are you using that gave you good return for the money? Reliable and pleasant to work with?
I am thinking of buying laptop, dividing it in Linux and Windows, put Orace db on Linux, dba tools on windows (TOAD ,ERd) and use it as my main workhorse.
Thanks a lot for your thoughts.
