Maybe not according to this: http://www.oracle.com/goldengate/goldengate-faq.pdf Will Oracle continue to support Oracle Streams? Yes, Oracle plans to continue to support Oracle Streams. Oracle has had a long history of providing a rich set of native replication technologies, and Oracle Streams will continue to be one of them. It is built into the Oracle Database, provides powerful Active-Active high availability (HA) capabilities, is integrated with other HA features such as Oracle Real Application Clusters (RAC) and Oracle Data Guard, and offers a rich, flexible set of replication functionalities. GoldenGate's software, which executes outside the database, offers a complementary set of data integration functionalities that are known for their ease of use, performance, and ability to support real-time replication between heterogeneous data stores. With Oracle Streams and GoldenGate solutions, Oracle expects to offer a much more extensive set of logical replication capabilities for its customers. How will this acquisition impact the product strategy for Oracle Streams? Oracle intends to integrate the best of the two technologies to offer a powerful data integration platform that is expected to meet the increasingly complex and demanding information sharing needs of its customers.
