I am not familiar with the Graphiti Display; but I thought it was designed to
somehow work with graphics. If it could handle graphics, could it be used
somehow to reproduce print in a raised format somewhat similar to the Optacon's
capability. Of course, I'd love to see a new Optacon come forth; but I'd be
happy if we had some kind of display allowing a blind person to feel the images
on the pages. My knowledge of written arts, including format skills and the
like, was enhanced greatly when I got into Optacon training and gained hands-on
access to the printed page.

Weren't they the ones introducing the Graphiti display, or is my memory mixing
up something? If so, probably they think they have already met the need. The
graphiti with a camera hooked onto your computer, might at first glance seem
somehow to replacing the need for an Optacon. And even the more so, since more
and more activities are carried out on the electronic devices.
No listers, I do not need a rush of people telling why the Optacon cannot be
replaced by this modern invention. I am just curios if a company that threw
thousands of dollars into inventing the Graphiti displaay, all the sudden would
restart the project, and reinvent the Optacon.
Dan, did you ask the people you talked to yourself? Another thing is, in the
challenging times people are facing right now, wil anyone want to chance huge
resources and economic muscles, on a project that at best might happen to serve
a rather cramped number of people?

Yesterday I was in the NFB exhibit hall talking with people from Orbit
Research. Their president mentioned that they are receptive to ideas
for new products. Has anyone approached them about developing a new optacon?
I hope everyone is doing well.
Thanks,
Dan
