Gently weigh down the page you are not reading. The operative word here is
GENTLY. Gentle, even pressure will open the book widely enough to let you
get the camera along the spine of the book without damaging it.

I have a recipe book for my microwave/convection oven. The print gets close
to the binding edge of the book and I find reading in it difficult with my
optacon. I don't want to disassemble the book to be able to read it better.
Any advice?
