Hello List,
I have a proposal for the list which people can take or leave. I would be
willing to do a video, but I need an optacon, and some training. I haven't
used one for 30 years, so my skills are pretty rusty. I know a couple of
people who threw their optacons in the trash without asking me if I wanted
one.
I would be willing to eventually buy an optacon, but right now funds are
tight as I just lost my job, and don't know how long the contract position I
just got will last. Just give the idea some thought. If someone wants to
speak with me off of the list, just send me an e-mail.
By the way, there are videos about the optacon on YouTube, but the content
is pretty dated. Any new video would need to focus on what the optacon can
do that no other device can. It should also be stated that there are woking
prototypes, and that making a small display would be much cheaper than the
larger ones under development. I was listening to technology coverage from
the NFB convention, and the person from Orbit Research which is developing a
graphics display for APH, mentioned a price of around $5000. I would think
an optacon could be made for a fraction of the cost. Considering that there
are so many technologies already out there which would be helpful.
