Although I've sometimes wondered >what the scroll wheel is for. jim Scrolling ;-P When your in a document that has scroll bars (vertical) you can use it to scroll up and down. You can specify how fast the document scrolls with 'scrolling speed' in the Keyboard & Mouse preference pane. Your scrolly wheel has a second function too: it functions as a "third" mouse button when pressed. In Safari/FireFox/Camino the "middle button" (as it's called) opens up a link in a new tab (just like command-click). PS You can program the buttons to different things in Expose (except for the "first" (or left) button). For example, my (wireless) Logitech ($12 :-) has the standard left-right buttons, a scroll wheel/scroll wheel button* + an additional button conveniently located on the top of the mouse (small one). The 'additional button' is set to show/hide Desktop using Expose when pressed -- a FANTASTIC feature that every mouse should have (it's impossible to press this button by accident and yet it's really easy to access). *This particular scroll wheel ALSO has two extra "buttons" -- if you push the wheel left or right you activate two more "clicks". I don't use those two extra clicks because they're too easy to activate by accident when you're scrolling or using the scroll button (middle click) (plus Mac OS X has taken to ignoring one of the clicks... and I know it's not the mouse that's defective... it's an OS X setting that's gone wonky). _________________________________________________ For information concerning the MUGLO List just click on http://www.freewebs.com/muglo/joinus.html Our Archives can be viewed at //www.freelists.org/archives/muglo Don't forget to periodically check our web site at: http://www.freewebs.com/muglo/
