[muglo] Hang up!!

I notice a problem that has developed recently on my eMac.
After having it running for an hour or so with Firefox, Mail and
sometimes Adium (messenger) transferring data through the HS Internet
suddenly becomes almost indefinite - the little arrow rotates
forever!!! If I put the computer to Sleep. The problem goes away for
a short time!!
Has anyone any idea about this problem and, more importantly, a
solution??
