All,
We just returned from a walk along the mountain bike trails near Lake 6 and saw:
38 Swainson's Hawks flying above us
11 Scissortail Flycatchers
12 White-crowned sparrows
5 Clay-colored sparrows
Adding validation to Anthony's comments that we could expect an influx of
American Snout butterflies (photos included), we were kicking them up left and
right as we walked along the mountain bike trails. I stopped counting at 50.
This morning, one brave soul even found its way into my plantless, treeless,
overdeveloped neighborhood and affixed itself to the hood of my 6 y.o's jacket
(a lep with guts!) as he ran around maniacally.
Also, I forgot to mention that while in Hale County on the 4th, the Sandhill
Cranes could be heard, but I could not find them for the life of me. They must
have landed on the ground out of sight.
