Hello -
Charles and I saw an adult male at 6:15 or so tonight. It was flying with a
Northern Harrier so the distinction was clear.
Had slow, deep, wing beats. Flying low like the Harrier. Short tail and
larger head.
Wasn't able to see the face to make out the triangles around the eyes. But
the barred wingtips were clearly visible, as was the banding on the tail and
a dark whorl on the underside of the wings.
We watched it for about 5 minutes with binoculars until it landed in the
underbrush and disappeared. I wasn't able to get a picture.
A real treat.
