Greetings All:
Visions of Western Tanager dancing in my head I braved the interesting
weather conditions at Clapp Park from 5:15 to 7:00. A lot of this was
sheltering (dare I say 'in place') under some of the heavier foliage
while spits and spats of rain blew through at startling velocity.
I could not find the tanager but, mostly working the playa trail and
the woods along the edge of the northwest playa I kicked out 1
Yellow-billed Cuckoo, 2 Spotted Sandpipers, 2 Yellow-crowned Night
Herons, 2 Purple Martins, 1 Swainson's Thrush, 1 Gray Catbird, 1
Lincoln's Sparrow, 1 Northern Waterthrush, 1 Nashville Warbler, 2
MacGillivray Warblers, 2 Common Yellowthroats, 1 Yellow Warbler, 2
Wilson's Warblers, and 1 male Black-headed Grosbeak.
Not bad given, as we say these days, the less than ideal conditions.
