Greetings All:
I spent two hours at Clapp Park this evening and, though things were slow
from a migrant perspective, I did manage a few highlights.
From 5:15 to 7:15 I tallied 40 species including 3 Blue-winged Teals, 1
Northern Shoveler, 2 Cattle Egrets, 1 Osprey, 1 Cooper's Hawk, 1 Solitary
Sandpiper, 5 Common Nighthawks, 19 Chimney Swifts, 1 immature Black-chinned
Hummingbird, 1 Merlin, 1 Eastern Phoebe, 1 Say's Phoebe, 2 Ruby-crowned
Kinglets3 Cedar Waxwings, 1 Northern Waterthrush, 1 Orange-crowned Warbler,
4 Wilson's Warblers, and 1 Clay-colored Sparrow.
The Eastern Phoebe, Say's Phoebe, and Osprey were all new to my Clapp Park
list for 2015, bringing me up to 170 species seen at the site this year.
Here's to at least one good weekend of migrant songbirds before fall
migration is over!
