Hi All,
A couple of chance sightings of unusual hawks (for this time of year, I
believe). This morning--Monday June 6-- a Broad-winged hawk liesurely soaring
above the 3300 blocks of 25th and 26th Streets, being leisurely menaced by a
Mississippi Kite, soaring around it.
Then this evening, a Swainson's hawk sitting on a phone wire at 30th and Akron.
Just sitting there, staring at us staring at him (or her). A blue jay perched
next to it, objecting to the hawk's presence, but utterly failing to get its
point across.
On another note, I saw a male Ring-necked Pheasant flying above fields at 34th
and Alcove on Sunday May 28th. About a month or so earlier, I found a dead hen
pheasant there too.
Yours,
Bill Wenthe
