[leasbirds] A new bird

Leisurely walk through Clapp and gardens produced little of note, apart from
marvelous weather and fresh, pristine beauty following the rains. With one
exception . . . . a lone Olive-sided Flycatcher busy from a prominent perch
in the Arboretum Gardens. Have not seen this species before; but large
size, prominent crest, and mottled/streaky underparts with white centerline
quite distinctive.
Male Black-chinned Hummer still prominent. Has been resident, it seems, for
several weeks now.
A butterfly note: I planted Rue in my back yard last year. It has been
located and utilized by Black Swallowtails the latter half of last summer
and starting again in the spring of this year. Numerous eggs. Wasps taking
nearly all the young caterpillars (though last summer I did observe one case
of cammibalism). Am improvising with netting to see if I can raise some to
maturity.
