Bernie,

I'm like you with the access numbers. They are never in the cities I'm
staying in. I've found what works good is a LD calling card from Wal-Mart
for 4 cents a minute (I think) and then I dial my St. Louis SBC number for
access. With DSL from SBC you also get free dialup.

I did play with my cell phone too since I have free LD anywhere and got it
to work for a dialup connection with my laptop. I've got unlimited minutes
on nights and weekends so it's another option if I'm away from a motel or
anything. Normal connection is usually 12-14.4k so it's slow.
