- Yes, I agree...however sometimes by telling everyone and their grandmother about this, you could cause more problems than necessary. One merely has to skim the GC.com website to read of accounts of people dutifully doing just what you say and having outrageous stipulations given to them by those in government not attuned to our little underground hobby. Such stipulations I have seen have included having caches only available for one day and the cache owner required to have a $1 million accident policy in place. Stupidity. Or, one could simply just let sleeping dogs lie and have a good time. Sure, occurrences like the one linked yet again by Glenn happen but they are few and far between. I'll take those infrequent occurrences over the headache of dealing with the morons in government any day. Frisbee rule, FTW. -Michael ________________________________ From: Andrew Senger <asenger@xxxxxxxxx> To: geocaching@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Saturday, December 20, 2008 12:33:59 PM Subject: [GeoStL] Re: urban caching again - On Sat, Dec 20, 2008 at 11:39 AM, GC-RGS <gc-rgs@xxxxxxxxxx> wrote: > Obviously these police/bomb squad problems wouldn't happen if we could > somehow contact all of the necessary agencies and make them aware of our > hobby. Rich, I think you've made our point right here. Around here, we are really good about contacting who we need to contact to place a cache. Sometimes this is mandatory, but others are a simple notification (i.e. County Parks). It will happen here eventually, but not nearly as often as other places.
