MARK YOUR CALENDARS!! NOVEMBER 19TH IT IS. Watch for the new event cache page to be published - GC36Q2K. i'm sponsoring another Hot Dog Roast at Strawberry Creek Nature Area in Arnold on the 19th of November - Saturday. The event will start at 10am with caching either individually or by groups - you choose. Trail maps will be available so you won't have to bushwack around the 125 acre park. I'm asking everyone to bring a finger food like chips, twinkies, cookies, your favorite snack to share with all. I'll provide everything else. You may want to bring a lawn chair as there is only 3 picnic tables, and we'll probably need them for the food and 'fixings'. Please respond to the cache page if you plan on coming so I can get a head count. Strawberry Creek Nature Area was purchased by the city of Arnold 11 years ago from a developer. This developer was going to put in multiple subdivisions on this 125 acre track including a couple of ponds. However, the developer got sick and moved to Lake of the Ozarks to complete his life. Meanwhile Arnold passed a 1/2 cent sales tax to pay for the park ($8m). In 4 or so short years the park was paid for, but Arnold forgot to reduce the sales tax. (What's wrong here) In the park has a large population of deer and several turkey. The park has several nice walking trails and numerous benches along them. It is surrounded by 2 subdivisions on 2 sides, Telegraph on one side and Arnold Tenbrook Road on the other. You need to arrive at the pavilion along Tenbrook road. There are signs at the entrance. The City of Arnold promotes caches as long as Groundspeak rules are followed and there are no Ammo Cans or PVC pipe caches. In fact the employees in the recreational department have stated they enjoyed my caches there. Now it's your turn to enjoy the park and hunt a few caches. Keep your eye out for GC36Q2K. Hope to see you there! Bob BBD1
