Yes it is possible but it won't do what you want. You can open the img file
on your computer (if you can figure out which one it is). You can edit and
remove the road. You can also recompile the map. However, it won't
autoroute anymore. So you cannot do what you want.

We don't want them to update something like that. What we want is for there
to be a way to let the GPS and mapsource know the road is temporarily
closed. We should ask to be able to identify a road in mapsource, mark it
as closed, and then transfer that info to the GPS.

Also by time they got it updated, that section would be done and then the
other section would be closed.

Subject: [GeoStL] NGR: GPS maps and the hwy 40 project

Does anybody know if it is possible to remove a section of road from the
Mapsource maps? I would like to edit my maps so that I am no longer routed
via hwy 40, or over bridges which will no longer exist.

If not, is Garmin going to be releasing updated maps without this stretch of
the road, or does this fall in the "construction: find your own detour"
category? Considering the amount of time that this is going to be out of
commission, I think it might be worth Garmin's while to update for the
closed stretch, and if they don't agree, I say we suggest it to them.
