- Your best bet is to go to Best Buy, Circuit City, etc. and test a few out. What are you going to use the camera for? Geocaching, family vacation, everyday? If you are going to be carrying it geocaching or vacation, you would want a smaller one that fits into your pocket. Are you going somewhere where you won't have access to electricity? You might want one that takes AA batteries (you can buy the rechargeables to save money, but have the option of AA if you are not near electricity). The type of memory stick, SD card, etc is not as important as most come up to 2GB of space. Most cameras also come with a cable that you can download the files directly to your computer, but read the packaging to be sure it does. I've always had luck with the Sony and Cannons. If you go to http://www.cnet.com/ you can get reviews on various camera qualities.
