as a Braillenote touch user, I have been quite accustomed to the device telling
me one app or another, often one I am not using and do not even have open, has
stopped working. No one has ever offered me a good explanation or fix for this
behavior. I have tolerated because I love the Touch. However now it immediately
freezes up upon the main menu or you may can do a few things then you can
forget it. I am very frustrated with this I do not want to do a factory reset.
Are there any other options? I have 5 gigs of storage left, so that should not
be a problem. I have a couple of new apps but they are vocal training apps I
can not see how they would lock the device up. Thanks.

error results. I've chosen Pop 3 should this still work, email address and
password is correct. Should I choose Imap?

yet; too much going on here! I'm still using my Apex, and the
email frustrations are partly why. I don't know why they can't

Hello,
I hope someone can help. I will explain as clearly as I can.
This is my first purchase from Humanware using the Braille note touch.
When receiving attachments I can't open them. It was explained to me that one
could open them within the inbox. I have downloaded drop box, and k9 apps. The
attachments I received yesterday one was a pdf file. Going into drop box I
still couldn't open it. Also it was a pdf file and not text. How does the touch
cope if at all with pdf files.
To explain further I have and am still using a braille sense 32 plus. which is
no longer supported by Sight and Sound. when I receive attachments on there I
put them in the word processor in the flash disc then I can open and read them.
Even some pdf files are translated.
Could someone tell me if i'm doing something wrong trying to achieve the same
using the Braille Note Touch.

I was just thinking about your Apex having to be reset so many
time each day. Have you tried reinstalling the software? That
might help. You won't lose your data, but you will lose all your
configurations. Go into the troubleshooting apendix, and you'll
find the instructions. That may straighten out the unit for you.

My wife and I just got our BrailleNote Touches yesterday, so I'm new enough
at it that I can't answer your questions with the completeness that you
might want. But here are some initial observations.
The Web is a lot better, because the Touch uses a mobile version of Firefox
on a modified mainstream tablet.
I have seen some freezing of the browser and other programs, which seems to
generally resolve if you select the Wait option instead of closing the stuck
program.
I see the same behavior periodically in Windows 7 with Jaws, so I'm already
used to that.
It's much more stable than the Apex, though.
I haven't used the mail program yet, but my wife's pretty impressed with it
so far, and she's fussy about such things.
The Mystic Access tutorial that comes with the unit is very thorough and
thoughtfully prepared.
For me it'll take more adjustment to Android than anything else.
One major difference in the Touch versus the Apex is that in some cases you
make adjustments to the Android settings rather than in KeySoft itself-for
example, in reconnecting to wireless when needed or adding networks.
You also won't use the space bar to traverse menus. Instead you'll hit enter
and use thumb keys to go through the choices.
It looks like Humanware has put lots of thought into the Touch.
I do wonder how many Android apps will be really usable for us, but I guess
time will tell. I've only tried a couple with mixed results, but this is my
first experience with Android.
I do think I'll ultimately wish there was more storage on the system SD
card, and I'm sure I'll transfer everything on the external 3GB card to a
32-gig card.

It will take a 32-797 sd card.
The Apex has a dictionary; the Touch does not, but you can
probably get an app.
The Apex will let you edit your Braille files; the Touch will not
until the next update, which is coming out this month some time.
There may be a list of recommended apps on the HumanWare website.

Here are the instructions from Appendix C:
C.3 Clear Settings Reset.
The Clear Settings Reset is the equivalent of a Software Reset
where all user settings are deleted. This erases all
configurations, but does not affect your data.
Make sure the BrailleNote BT is switched on. Hold down dots 4-5-6
and gently press the reset switch with a pointed instrument until
it clicks. The BrailleNote BT should beep immediately. Continue
to hold down dots 4-5-6.
A beep will be heard and the message "Starting Keysoft" will be
displayed.
After a short while the system will announce:
"KeySoft version 9.0x. Build (number)" followed by "Main Menu."
