Hello Lucy and list,The adapter could be going out. A few things can cause this. A short somewhere in the cord or damage in the box where the two cords are plugged together. There's also another possibility. Where the adapter plugs into the braillenote, there is a small metal piece that inserts into the plug. If there's internal damage where that piece is it will cause the adapter to lose connection. This has happened on my MPower and I know a few others that has experienced this unfortunate damage. When this happens, eventually the metal piece will finish breaking and the unit will no longer be receiving power. It is caused by the fact that the plug is sticking out from the unit and can be bumped or the plug can catch on something. Over time this can crack the internal workings where the adapter is plugged in. I have suggested to Humanware a few times that the chances of this happening could be decreased by using an adapter with a 45 degree plug. This wouldn't stick out as far and in most cases not be as likely to cause issues. I never received any feedback from HW. Hopefully it is something that is wrong with your adapter and not your BN.

Are both pieces of the adapter firmly connected together?

Hi all,
My BrailleNote seems to be recognizing the AC adapter onlyintermittently... I get "AC adapter on" and "AC adapter off" messages continually as I work, despite the fact that I've done nothing with the adapter. Does anyone know why this may be happening? Does it seem like a problem with the adapter or with the unit itself, and what can I do to fix it?
Thanks in advance for any thoughts!
Lucy
