I scan for people who send me books and I put hold for on them and it sometimes
takes them quite awhile to get to them.

I thought staff released holds that stayed on the checkout queue for a certain
number of weeks without being picked up; is that no longer the case?

Hi Melissa,
There are actually only four books with holds right now—three are being held
for a specific proofer and one is being held for staff.
The only way to release a book is to write to staff and ask for the hold to be
removed. Mostly, they won’t remove a hold unless you’re the one who put the
hold on in the first place.
Sometimes staff removes holds that have languished for weeks and the proofer
hasn’t picked it up.
Of course you “can” download a book with a hold—there is nothing physically
preventing you from doing that. The real issue is “should” you download a book
with a hold, and the anser is “NO”. There is a reason for the holds and the
hold needs to be honored.

Hi.
I was looking at the check out cue. There are lots of books on hold for
people, and it goes back a long way. I am wondering if there is a way to
release the holds or to get an updated list. I ask because I was able to
download a book that was on hold for someone else. When I realized this, I put
it back into the cue, and the date was somewhere in December or January. Just
thought that I would bring this up.
