Hi, Lissi, have you gone to thriftbooks.com? You might get those used books
for a very reasonable price and there's no shipping cost if they're being
sent within the country. I bought two books for $8.37. Regards, Kim.

Dear Cindy and Booksharian Friends,

I'm not a fast scanner, but because they are set in Scotland, I will be
glad
to scan Books 2 and 3 of the Martha series.

I already have a copy of Down to the Bonny Glen so I'll dust off my scanner
tomorrow and make a start on it. Amazon's cheapest used copy is $15.19 and
new copies start at $49.99. I wonder if this series had a particularly
short print run? The copyright is 2001, so I wouldn't have expected the
used
copies to cost so much. A used copy of The Far Side of the Loch is only
$1.99 so I'll order it if my library doesn't have it.

If anyone is willing to scan these books and would consider letting me
proofread, that would be even better, but I have bricks in my back yard
which should hold the books flat on the scanner very nicely for me.

I had no idea the Little House books had proliferated so extensively. In
addition to the 9 original Little House books by Laura Ingalls Wilder,
there
are the 4 in the Martha series, 2 listed in the Charlotte years by the same
author, 4 in the Caroline series by Maria D. Wilkes, and 8 in the Rose
years
by Roger Lea MacBride.

If anyone is interested in checking it out and taking it on, this series
could use a captain. I'm only interested in filling in the books set in
Scotland.

Always with love,

Lissi

The Martha series are about LauraWilder's Ingalls Irish great grandmother.
Books # one and four are already in the collection (The Little House in the
Highlands and Beyond the Heather Hills, respectively) but a member would
like the missing ones--unabridged editions, please: The Far Side of the
Loch, book #2 and Down to the Bonny Glen, Book #3

I would assume, something like.
1 1/2 or 1 1/4 miles, but I honestly don't know as I can't see the book.

But fractions as a rule never scan properly.

Unfortunately it was before I started keeping images, was on the old

But can request it, and get the image.

Sorry, Scott! I went to books in process to find which book you were
working on and took the ISBN to Amazon and there is no peek. If Shelley has
her scan, though, I would be glad to look at that page.

How do you delete a page break if it's extraneous to a document? I'm having
a devil of a time trying to get this thing right. I received a note saying
the file I proofread were missing page breaks. I know how to put them in,
but not how to take them out. My problem is I think I've messed up my
proofread copy of the file and I don't dare mess with the raw file I was
proofreading. This thing is giving me fits because the text is all right
and
the way the file is supposed to look is in the following way: 6 prefatory
pages, p. 1, title page, p. 2, contains no text, p. 3, quotations cited, p.
4, contains no text, p. 5 Chapter 1 and text. When the fifth page is there,
MS Word has a page break should say p. 11. Anyway, on print page 3, the
page
break ought to read p. 9 and not p. 10. I'm really thrown by this and don't
know what to do. If I haven't made myself clear on this, I'm sorry. The
book
I'm working on is an omnibus by Charles de Lint called Jack of Kinrowan
which comprises two novels, Jack the Giant-Killer and Drink Down the Moon.
So I'm having problems with the first novel in the omnibus. I'm stuck and
need help. Regards, Kim.

Light

Hi Scott!

It might be a fraction perhaps 1 1/4, but fractions scan so poorly that I
could be 1/4 or 1/2, but, since there is an s on miles, I guess it was
more
than 1 mile.

Please give us the whole sentence or check on books.google.com. If the
page isn't restricted, you might be able to find the meaning of the scanno
if the page isn't just a snippet.

Don't include the scanno in your search string, though, or it will mess up
your search.

In case you haven't used this service, search for the book title, then,
when you find the right book by hitting a link on it, then enter in the
search box after the book title, a space, a plus sign, another space, a
quotation mark, search string and closing quotation mark and then perform
your search. It will tell you the page your search string is found on and
hopefully the text including the correct text for the scanno. I have
gotten great results with some searches and others come up empty.

Hi Kim!

You can delete an extraneous page break by just hitting delete on it. I
have had to do that a few times, either because there was an extra one or
the text on the following page didn't read well until I deleted that
page's
page break and inserted a new one for some reason.

Also, have you set your page size to legal instead of letter? Perhaps
page
10 is a soft page break? I'm not sure. Does it say "page break" then
"page 10", or just "page 10"?

Hi, Debby, the page setup is in legal, 8.5 by 14 inches. I did press the
delete key but the little thing is still there. Regards, Kim.
