The facebook thing doesn't much bother me since I have a profile there, it's the facebook groups that I don't like. You have to watch out what you're a member of and not a member of now a days. The main thing that doesn't get my attention too much is the ADA books and stuff. I know this isn't a political list, but I think they could have done better with the ADA law. Seems like for the larger sense of things, the made the law to make the people "happy" but didn't really do anything much to resolve their problems. -----Original Message----- From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Estelnalissi Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2010 3:12 PM To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Surprises in Store at the Bookshare Facebook Page as We Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the ADA Dear Andy and Booksharian Friends, About Facebook, I'm with you, Andy. I have no idea how to navigate it. The bits and pieces of conversation I was able to find didn't seem worth the effort, nothing of substance seemed to be said, or it was beyond me and my computer to get to it. With my very low partial vision, I didn't become aware of faces until I was a teenager. I knew they had eyes, noses and mouths, but had no idea people depended on looking at them and looked at them all of the time. Finally I learned to come as close as possible to appear to make eye contact, but it's a chore I perform for courtesy, not something that informs me in any way. I hope it doesn't make me of less value as a volunteer that I hope not to have to go back to Bookshare's face again. And I hope these lists remain viable, where we can talk in complete thoughts, without the interruptions of constant navigational hops, pictures and graphics or whatever they are, that have no meaning for us, and strings of links and phrase swapping. Always with love, Lissi ----- Original Message ----- From: "Andy B." <sonfire11@xxxxxxxxx> To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2010 2:36 PM Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Surprises in Store at the Bookshare Facebook Page as We Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the ADA > Sorry, facebook groups and books about the ADA aren't my thing. > > -----Original Message----- > From: bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > [mailto:bksvol-discuss-bounce@xxxxxxxxxxxxx] On Behalf Of Stacey Robinson > Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2010 2:28 PM > To: bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx > Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Re: Surprises in Store at the Bookshare Facebook > Page as We Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the ADA > > Scott, > I downloaded one of the books this morning. > ----- Original Message ----- > From: "Scott Rains" <scottr@xxxxxxxxxxxx> > To: <bksvol-discuss@xxxxxxxxxxxxx> > Sent: Sunday, July 25, 2010 11:38 AM > Subject: [bksvol-discuss] Surprises in Store at the Bookshare Facebook > Page > as We Celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the ADA > > >> In case you have not stumbled across it yet Bookshare has a few special >> items in store up on the Bookshare Facebook page in celebration of the >> 20th anniversary of the ADA. >> >> We are holding off on a press release until tomorrow but you can discover >> here one of the secrets.
