I've posted this one on this list before, but it is so memorable that it deserves mention again. It was when I was scanning Rules For Radicals by Saul Alinsky. A sentence began, "Parts of the far left become indistinguishable from the far right ...." The P in Parts scanned as an F.

Dear Booksharian Friends,
This is a call out for you to tell us some of your most recent or memorable scannos. I’ve been collecting them in a group list all along but you may have come across some you haven’t posted lately. The list is so inclusive I don’t find brand new scannos too often but today I added waited for wasted.
Here’s the context though that won’t be in the alphabetized list.

“Waited good whiskey when he did,” Samuel growled.

for

“Wasted good whiskey when he did,” Samuel growled.

Coincidentally, Samuel, a character in an entertaining book I’m proofreading, happens to be blind.

Sure it will be marvelous if they improve OCRs so much that scannos don’t happen anymore but we’ll miss those little monkeys that keep us on our toes and can be hilarious.

Give this some thought since the scannos you send will become a V I P (land in a very important place) somewhat immortalized.

And, scannos perk up list mail as we all nod in recognition having seen the same or similar ones in our scanning and proofreading.

Thanks.

Always with love,

Lissi
