Thank you so much for the time and effort all of you put into getting more
books into the Bookshare collection. We discovered some inconsistencies when
books are scanned and proofread using certain software. To help ensure that
we're reviewing books the way we need to, can you please include the below
information in the comments section when you submit or check-in a book?
a. Your computer's operating system: Windows or Mac or Linux or Other (please
specify).
b. Your scanning or proofreading software: Microsoft Word, Microsoft Word for
Mac, Kurzweil, OpenBook, Other (please specify).
If you use multiple software packages to scan and proofread, please list them
all.
For example, for proofreaders: Microsoft Word on Windows, or Kurzweil k1000 on
Windows, or Microsoft Word for Mac on a Mac, or Open Office on Linux, or
Microsoft Word and K1000 on Windows, or LibreOffice on Windows (or whatever it
is you are using).
For example, for scanners: K1000 on Windows, or OpenBook on Windows, or
OmniPage on Windows, or ABBYY FineReader on Mac, or Foxit Phantom on Windows
(or whatever it is you are using).
This information will greatly improve our ability to review books and provide
the correct feedback to volunteers. Please let me know if you have any
