Hello all, For those of you who are seeking good scanners for K1K scanning, please see the following message from Stephen Baum. Especailly if you are unable to find the Epson Perfection 3170 scanner, this model may seem like a real alternative. Recent Epson scanner models tend to be quite slow compared to the 1660, 1650, and 3170. Hope this helps. We just retested the Plustek OpticBook 3600, which is the only commercially available scanner with a book edge. Using the latest patch, brightness now works, and the problem with the lamp's warm up time has been reduced significantly. As a consequence, this scanner is now highly recommended, and we'll change our web site to reflect that. The patch is at http://www.plustek.com/download/ob3600.htm The description of the patch is rather misleading, and is as follows: "Patch for the following issues, 1, MS Office 2003 compatible problem 2, Unable to perform larger size scan problem Win98 / Me / 2K / XP 20th February, 2006 2.31 MB" Stephen ******************************************************* To find out how to unsubscribe, please visit: http://www.kurzweiledu.com/support_listserv_signup.asp To unsubscribe from this list send a blank Email to bksvol-discuss-request@xxxxxxxxxxxxx put the word 'unsubscribe' by itself in the subject line.
