Almost everyone thought that, and Congress, foremost Dick Shelby, seems to continue to.

How sad is it really? It all really ended in '67.

What is sad is that we spent so many decades since thinking that Apollo
was the model for opening space. And that many still do. Artemis is the
Lady Ghostbusters of Apollo.

Who thought that? really?

The perceived longtime model for space access was showcased in "2001"
( and before that in the von Braun Book.)

the Shuttle project then proceeded as "Citroen Dyane in space".
( i.e. merging the downsides of the 2CV and "real cars" )
