Why Sinter when you can Weld with your laser at the end of a robotic arm
within a 3-D volume like these guys.

I remember reading something a long time ago about the Russians filling the
entire room with Argon and sending the welders in with oxygen masks to
build their Titanium Submarines. Laser welding using a wire in an argon
atmosphere might be cheaper that trying to keep your exotic powder metal
from oxidizing. Use both, laser and electricity to get more control over
the additive build at the end of the closed loop welder at the end of the
arm.
Of course you can skip the room filled with argon in the vacuum of space.
