Ditto! :-)
I'd much rather deal with COM (for which there are MANY wizards, and helpers,
and
templates and, and, and...) than try to learn a whole new method (.NET), or
hardcode
functions and their parameters and have to recompile everything every time
someone
needs to implement new functionality in the core (callbacks and the current
GeoShell R4
codebase).
Anyway ... that's probably why there are so many different shells out here
working from
different code-bases. I think we would all get the most benefit from a
shell-coders specific
code-snipet library ... where we could:
a) refine the functional code for the hard or repeptitive stuff like
system-trays, task lists,
menus ... launching apps (without needing paths)
b) provide tips for the simple stuff that sounds hard to begginers: like
playing sounds,
doing alpha blending and skinning and reading and writing settings files or the
registry...
