Current r6 services and plugins may be incorporated into other shells
quite easily as long as the shell provides certain methods via the
IGSShell interface. A wrapper object could proxy method calls on that
interface to different functions in the shell.

Subject: [shell-coding] [Common Elements] Just a thought
Lately I've been surfin the web visiting sites that deal with shell
development or shell "relevance" and seen alot of work is being
duplicated. For an example I seen from a couple of sites with UI
controls/elements being written which have the same basic functionality
with a added feature or two with the author signature of course, and
maybe the appearance tweaked abit. Another disturbing image was that I
peaked in some source code and seeing logic being repeated and alot of
it shared the same common startup procedures. I too have fallen under
this very category re inventing the wheel abit too and finding it
cumbersome and restless, Im wanting to peek into the future , Im wanting
to see shells rely on the same structure or common/base arcitecture.
I've learned from one of the greatest beast (Microsoft) that standards
and guidelines is the true foundation, those guys live by an oath if you
will, and they continue to build from that foundation. Some say MFC for
example, has some poor functionality which is fine, but if you review it
from documentation and source code, you can see the structure of its
design and how it evolves from a common platform or ground. The
structure to me is facinating, I can see the ease of managebility even
in .NET, in my opinion .NET is very organized. . I would like to see
shells interact closely with one another just as MS Office apps bind
together, thats where I want to go , I mean to think if I the user could
snag a cool Litestep mod and be able to run it interchangebly in say
SharpE without the need to recode this mod twice. I'm a geoshell and
Litestep user and love both shells dearly, there are some funtionality
in both shells that I wish was all in one (In perfect world this would
be fabulous). These two shells are good but its having to switch one
from another in order achieve certain things and of course I could write
these functionalities out to support either or but who would do that. Im
want us to be strong tight family, and when I say us I mean the whole
shell community, we are very special individuals with great talents and
I don't want to see this great thing die as most things do. More and
more Im seeing abandoned projects and ideas, I wanting to know "whats
happened" that these goals and inspiration are thrown in the trash. But
these are just my thoughts ...
I thank you for your kind attention
