His home phone number. :) Ok besides that, here is a few things I can think of: o CSI number. o All the contacts like Oracle sale rep's, 3rd party application vendors = etc. o An overview of the databases and it's applications. o An overview of the storage subsystem like SANs or anything. o Logins. OS and Oracle and others. o Any tricks he did to improve the application performance because the developer/vendor won't/can't change their code. o The backup/recovery strategy he implmemnted. o The monitoring he implemented. o whatever process he implemented, location of scripts etc, an overview of all scripts etc. Richard -----Original Message----- From: Alex [mailto:stant_98@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Wed 9/15/2004 10:44 PM To: oracle-l@xxxxxxxxxxxxx Cc:=09 Subject: New dba questions to the former dba? Hi all, =20 I just got a new job as a production dba and have already had a chance = to read up a bit of online docs and the documentation (mostly "how-to" = guides, step-bystep instructions written by the former dba). I am = planning to get some additional information from him in a few days and = would like to come up with a list of questions for him as part of the = knowledge transfer. So my question is what questions should I be asking = the former DBA? =20 Thanks much! =09 --------------------------------- Do you Yahoo!? New and Improved Yahoo!
