What are the real-world benefits from implementing separate routing groups like this? I'm not currently doing this and am wondering if it's something I should do. I have a main office and a remote office, all under the same AD domain. Each office is configured as a separate AD Site. One Exchange server along with a separate GC server is at each site. The Exchange servers are part of the same routing group though. Hardware VPN between our firewalls. Never had any problems that I'm aware of, but you never know, right? -Chris -----Original Message----- From: Mark Fugatt [mailto:mark@xxxxxxxxx] Sent: Saturday, July 12, 2003 9:42 AM To: [ExchangeList] Subject: [exchangelist] RE: New Project http://www.MSExchange.org/ Hi John What I would recommend is having each server in it's own Routing Group and then create an SMTP Connector to join the routing groups together, this will allow you to control message flow. With regard to the Global Address List, unlike Exchange 5.5 Exchange 2000 uses the Active Directory as its Directory Service, so you need to make sure you have AD configured correctly to replicate the AD between the DC's in each site, I would also recommend having at least one Global Catalog Server in each remote site. Each location is geographically separated about 350 miles from each other. They are all going to be under one Domain Name, connected through a Frame Relay. I am little bit rusty on how to set up Exchange Servers to replicate with one another in other for a user to see all users names in the address book when it comes to sending mail. Can somebody point me in the right direction please Thanks ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: mark@xxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub') ------------------------------------------------------ List Archives: http://www.webelists.com/cgi/lyris.pl?enter=exchangelist Exchange Newsletters: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/newsletter.asp Exchange FAQ: http://www.msexchange.org/pages/larticle.asp?type=FAQ ------------------------------------------------------ Other Internet Software Marketing Sites: Leading Network Software Directory: http://www.serverfiles.com No.1 ISA Server Resource Site: http://www.isaserver.org Windows Security Resource Site: http://www.windowsecurity.com/ Network Security Library: http://www.secinf.net/ Windows 2000/NT Fax Solutions: http://www.ntfaxfaq.com ------------------------------------------------------ You are currently subscribed to this MSExchange.org Discussion List as: cnielsen@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx To unsubscribe send a blank email to $subst('Email.Unsub')
