Mille Grazie, Fuzzy ! :-)
We may well wind up with simply MS project. <ugh>. I don't
want to spend $$ on a Hummer (so to speak) when all I need
is a minivan.
Thanks for thoughts.

Ross
You need a tiger. All your diligent, over-worked team members will be = too
busy to notice it, and the slackers will run screaming from the = building,
or be devoured as punishment for their laziness!
But seriously, I've just completed some work that assessed project =
management tools, and one of the key questions is "how many projects are =
you managing simultaneously?" If it's only a few (Oracle-based or =
otherwise), then just about any tool, including MS Project, will do. =
However, if you're juggling many projects (dozens or more), you may want =
to look into the world of portfolio/project-office management tools. =
These really show their strengths when juggling multiple resources = across
many projects, with variable time-frames, etc. They also include = much
stronger budgeting and "value" assessment tools (e.g. net-present = value,
internal rate of return, capitalisation of labour, etc.) Some of = the
stand-out tools are Primavera and Niku Clarity. These aren't = necessarily
cheap, though.
Additionally, if you're using an ERP suite, they have project/portfolio =
management modules (Oracle Apps is pushing hard in this area) ... you = may
already have what you're looking for!
My 2=A2
Ciao
